	Problem The Congoleum IT department is charged with maintaining the company’s ever-growing intranet and extranet web sites. These information portals are used to support all employees throughout the corporation: both internal, operational employees as well as field sales representatives. Congoleum’s IT staff was faced with a growing problem -- provide a uniform information resource that supports the growing needs of all employees while reducing the burden on IT resources. Solution EffectiV provided Congoleum with a user friendly intranet and extranet that improves upon the earlier generation of sales support tools offered to employees. Most important, EffectiV re-engineered the website administration process, delivering a scalable and maintainable solution for Congoleum’s IT staff that actually reduces the work load. The intranet and extranet provide first-level support to Congoleum’s sales team. Users within Congoleum’s WAN can access the intranet for daily information needs such as looking up warranty information and monthly average roll sizes. Sales representatives in the field may also log in to Congoleum’s extranet via a secure login process, accessing the same kinds of information that the intranet offers. Additionally, sales reps are able to dynamically generate dozens of online sales reports in real-time, including searches by store number, county, zip code, or shipping ID. Result The new architecture, maintenance process, and site design provide a demonstrable reduction in maintenance costs over the next several quarters while improving the company’s operational efficiency and information retrieval capabilities.
